Art theft sucks. It’s happening to my friends a lot lately, and I just wanted to share this story from a few years back.

This video was uploaded in 2006, two months after I uploaded my original version. If you turn on annotations, it’s plain to see the guy knows he did something wrong, but for the first year or two it was up on Youtube he didn’t have any of those obviously outrageous disclaimers in the beginning.

I called him out on stealing my animation and taking out my name at the end in the comments, but he claimed that the version he found had the credits already cut out. Once the internet caught wind of this, they all called him out too, and that’s about when he added those annotations.

It still sucks, and I’m still kinda pissed off about it. I put a lot of hard work into that. Not a whole lot I can do about it, since I don’t own the characters or anything, but still.

And he’s not the only one, either… (classy). And here’s another. There’s actually quite a few re-uploads of it. Luckily most of them keep my credits in the end (including one that has over 1.5 million views… roughly 5x more than my own).

itscarororo:

it’s nice that someone liked my animation enough to color it, but there was no reason to remove my watermark (or color it without my permission). Guys, stop being assholes.

Seriously, it’s not even like whoever did this traced over the lines and forgot to put the watermark back in, they used her original animation knowingly deleted the watermark. That shit is infuriating.
